Replacing Casement Windows with Ease
08/18/2008

The old, wood window frame at the Truitt & White’s Window and Door Showroom may not be the most glamorous product on display, but it serves its purpose. Why? According to Gary Nosti, Truitt & White Sales, it demonstrates how worn out stationary, casement or double-hung windows can be easily replaced with Marvin’s new Ultimate Casement Replacement Windows.

“We’ve recreated the old window frame and sill. Customers come in and say ’yea—that’s what I have at home.’ Then they see how neatly the Casement Replacement window drops into the old frame,” says Nosti. A second display features a new Marvin Casement Replacement window. Customers can hands-on open and close that window, and learn more about its energy-efficiency and noise-reduction features.

“If installed properly – and we work closely with installers on the technical details -- there’s a significant reduction of air transfer. A lot of times that is what motivates people when they decide to buy and install new windows,” says Nosti. “But when the project is completed they’ll notice not only the reduction (or even elimination) of air infiltration, but also the change in the noise – My house is so quiet now! It’s a side benefit that really comes to a customer’s attention with Marvin’ Casement Replacement windows.”

Heavy-duty and featuring the top-grade hardware Marvin is known for, their Casement Replacement windows are available in any size up to 36-inches wide x 96-inches high. “You can go wider, but it won’t be 96-inches tall,” notes Nosti. In addition to high-quality components, an array of glass options and wood species choices are available, as well as a selection of 19 color options for the clad exterior.

“This type of product is really valuable in the Bay Area,” says Nosti. “There are so many older homes where the wood frame is in good condition and only sash replacement is needed. The Marvin Ultimate Casement Replacement window offers a great retrofit casement window and the house doesn’t need to be torn apart.”

Builder Jason Griffin agrees. He owns Windows, Doors and More based in San Pablo and says the casement window is a terrific solution for both homeowner and installer. “Homeowners like casement windows and many have them in their homes.  Before Marvin’s Casement Replacement window came along, we only had double hung replacement options from Marvin and when replacing an existing casement sash, we’d have to alter the opening to make it work. Now we don’t have to get into all that construction. This window fits into the specific opening.”

As an installer, Griffin says he appreciates that the casement replacement window “goes in just like it should and operates smoothly. A lot of my customers say it’s a great window. It opens and shuts and operates a whole lot smoother than any other casement window I’ve used.”
