| UltraBlock® from Simpson Doors |
| 05/06/2008 |
Sometimes an exterior door needs additional protection from the demanding elements of Mother Nature. Developed for exterior doors that are subject to harsh wind, rain and temperature environments, Simpson offers UltraBlock® technology.
The UltraBlock technology is available for Simpson’s line of French doors and features a composite block finger-jointed into the bottom of the stiles that keeps the door from absorbing moisture.
“The advantage of UltraBlock is that it reduces the chances of buckling and swelling on the bottom rails, which is the #1 problem with doors. It also minimizes the stile and rail separation that can pull apart,” says Robin Forsyth, a door representative with American Building Supply.
Truitt & White stocks Simpson 1-lite and 10-lite insulated glass doors with the Ultra Block technology. Inventoried in 2’6”, 2’8” and 3’0 x 6’8 1-3/4”, the doors carry a 5-year limited warranty, compared to a 1-year warranty for standard doors.

Build the Ideal Door
Even in the standard door category, the Simpson custom door department can craft any interior or exterior door in a variety of species such as mahogany, oak, walnut and cherry. “You can help customers design their ideal door, and Simpson can build it. There’s a cost associated with that, but choose any of the standard designs – craftsman is a good seller in this area – customize that with the many options available and it will be the perfect door that suits their home,” comments Forsyth.
“And never underestimate curb appeal,” she adds. “It’s the first impression whether you’re selling a home or plan to live in it for years. I changed the front door on my own house and suddenly my neighbors started asking about it. It’s a visceral part of walking up to the front porch – and very important to the overall aesthetic appeal of the house inside and out,” remarks Forsyth.
