Growing demand for Trex Brasilia Decking
Trex Brasilia decking is a brisk seller in the composite wood decking category these days. This line provides the rich beauty of rainforest species, but without the headaches that often come with installing and maintaining tropical hardwood decking, according to Michael Papsdorf a counter sales veteran at Truitt & White
“Brasilia, like all Trex decking, is so simple to install. Unlike tropical hardwood decking, there's no oiling, staining or pre-drilling required,” says Papsdorf, who recently installed a Trex Brasilia decking in his own backyard. “The beauty of the composite wood is that there’s little to no maintenance. Basically sweep and hose it off with water to keep it clean. This low-maintenance feature has a huge appeal for our customers,” says Papsdorf. In addition he says, generally the cost of Trex decking is comparable to hardwoods.
Truitt & White customer Dave Yarnell is a project manager for Odin’s Hammer, a Bay Area design/build firm. He says he recommends Brasilia to customers regularly as he has been impressed with the product’s tighter surface that allows for easy cleaning and low-maintenance. “I also prefer the Brasilia visually – it’s more interesting to look at and looks like wood which is the whole point of it.”
Brasilia can be special ordered in 5-1/4 x 6 and is available in three colors: Burnished Amber (lightest), Cayenne, and Espresso (darkest).
“Espresso is part of a trend toward darker colors in decking. Customers seem to be leaning in this direction,” notes Bloodworth. He says as more homeowners are drawn to composite wood products, it’s natural for the range of choices to gradually expand.
Truitt & White special orders the Brasilia line and stocks a wide range of Trex Accent decking and the Trex Designer Series railing components. Popular colors Winchester Grey, Madeira and Saddle decking are inventoried in 5-1/4 x 12, 16 and 20 ft. lengths. Railing components are inventoried in the same three colors.
