Get ramped up on latest install techniques
Truitt and White is offering a May 26 workshop on installing Marvin French door units and new hardware.
Truitt and White’s Joel Trestrail and Marvin’s Chris Martin will discuss proper flashing and panning systems, along with tips and tricks for working with Marvin’s multi-point locks and adjustable hinges.
Chris Martin will also discuss new options in hardware, a popular component of Marvin French Doors. Hardware, especially levers and their new styles and finishes, is driving a lot of jobs says Chris. Though the seminar focuses on installation, construction details and guiding builders on best practices for installing Marvin French doors, the wrinkle is the newer door hardware.
“Traditionally, we had just one style that came in polished brass, which used to be the standard, most asked for finish,” adds Chris. These days, polished brass is less in demand. Marvin has responded by offering customers different finishes, such as oil rubbed bronze and satin nickel, available in the standard hardware package. A variety of lever styles and finishes are also now available from a range of manufacturers.
“We work with some excellent hardware manufacturers like Stone River Bronze, Valli and Valli, Bouvet, and Ashley-Norton to provide a great selection for our door handles. This gives both the architect and the client the design options they’re looking for.”
The building professional door clinic at Hilton Concord Hotel, 1970 Diamond Blvd., in Concord on May 26 is an excellent way to refine your installation techniques and expand your knowledge of Marvin French doors. Though the clinic is free you need to pre-register by visiting www.truittandwhite.com or by contacting Patrice Parame at (510) 841-0511 or pparame@truittandwhite.com.
