Innovative Products at Truitt & White
At Truitt & White, an important part of our mission is keeping our customers up to date and on the leading edge of the building industry by supplying some of the best resource and energy efficient products in the marketplace. With new incentives available through Federal Energy Tax Credits, energy-efficient options become even more valuable to builders, remodelers and their clients.
Truitt & White offers a variety of innovative products, including Solatube and Solar Star, which effectively address the important issues of daylighting and ventilation. Each is designed to meet and exceed the performance standards established in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the Emergency Stabilization Act of 2009, economic stimulus packages giving homeowners an opportunity to gain tax credits when they improve the energy performance of their homes.
"The Solatube Daylighting Systems and Solar Star Attic Fans signify a promising expansion of the market's energy-efficient product options," said Cynthia Sener, Vice President of Marketing for Solatube International. "With these field-proven products, homeowners, builders and remodelers can now make significant improvements in previously overlooked areas like natural daylighting, solar heat gain and attic ventilation."
Saving Energy and Reaping Tax-Credit Benefits
Utilizing breakthrough, light-bending technology, Solatube Daylighting Systems represent a cost-effective method for supplying natural light to interior spaces. Already meeting Energy Star standards, Solatube's suite of products now includes the modified eChoice line (Solatube 160 DSe and 290 DSe, available through special order), which exceeds the required U-Factor rating and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient and therefore qualifies for the tax credits designated in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The tax credit is based on 30% of the product cost and is capped at $1500. For example, a purchase price totaling $5,000 of qualifying products will receive the maximum tax credit of $1500. Unlike a tax deduction, which simply deflates the amount of taxable income, this credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction subtracted from tax liability.
Solar Star is a solar-powered, roof-mounted attic fan integrating the industry's most technologically advanced, energy-efficient ventilation system. Solar Star Attic Fans, both roof mount and conversion kits, qualify for the 30% tax credits stipulated in the Emergency Stabilization Act of 2009, which includes both purchase and installation of photovoltaic (PV) equipment. Powered by a compact PV module, Solar Star effectively counteracts both excessive heat and moisture without requiring costly electrical hook-ups, increasing the energy performance and comfort of home environments.
