The Stronger and Lighter Decking Board
CrossTimbers, a composite decking board now available at Truitt & White, is engineered to be both stronger and lighter than many solid board options. These dual benefits result from internal arched voids that stiffen the CrossTimbers beam while reducing weight (compared to solid boards) by 30 percent. This also means a 30 percent reduction in raw materials, which can be viewed as a “greener,” more sustainable product option.

Composite Benefits
“The advantages of these composite boards are both short and long term,” said BMD CrossTimbers specialist Stephanie Kiser. “A lighter board eases the physical strain during installation, while the engineered qualities are designed for less maintenance and greater value over time.”
CrossTimbers offers:
- Excellent value composite
- Modest difference in price over wood
- Reversible wood grain or smooth
- Resists splintering, warping, cracking and rot
- 24” allowable span
- 25-year limited warranty
The result is a durable, easy-to-handle decking board that maximizes the strengths of composite engineering without compromising performance or appearance. CrossTimbers is also available by special order in the FR (Fire-Resistant) series listed in the California Fire Marshall’s Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Products Handbook (4-day lead times for FR series).
