Sharp, Modern ADU in Oakland

Sharp, modern adu in Oakland

Berkeley-based McDunn ADU, formerly McDunn Construction, is putting the final touches on this gorgeous 660-square-foot ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) in the Rockridge area of Oakland. All lumber for this project was provided by Truitt & White.

This one-story, one-bedroom and office unit, with full kitchen and bathroom, was built for the owners’ grown son in the backyard of the main house. The architect for the ADU was Carrie Shores of Oakland’s Larson Shores Architecture and Interiors and took about 4 ½ months to construct. Dan McDunn calls the design, “sharp, modern and minimalist.”

The Oakland ADU project is a stunning example of the modern design that has become increasingly popular throughout the greater bay area.

The project was so impressive, that it garnered national attention and was featured on NBC's The Today Show. You can see the segment, and learn more about the project by clicking here
