Since 1946, Truitt & White has been the Bay Area's leading source of high quality building materials, information, and customer service. With over 70,000 square feet of lumberyard, hardware store, warehouse, and showroom areas, our knowledgeable staff specializes in serving the needs of professional builders and homeowners alike.
Yesterday and Today
Over sixty years ago, George Truitt and Robert White founded the Truitt & White Lumber Company. George and Robert met while serving in the US Navy where they were both assigned to the material procurement department. It was there they learned about the San Francisco Bay Area, and most important, the opportunities in the growing community.
Even in sunny California though, the post-WWII construction industry proved to be a challenge due to the limited availability of lumber and building materials. Through perseverance and smart business planning however, George and Robert gradually built Truitt & White to what it has become today. Carefully, they developed a customer service standard, added staff, and quickly established a reputation for quality products, friendly, helpful service, and a professional approach in serving the building professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Growing with the Times
Over the next several decades, the company continued to grow and prosper through dedication to innovation and customer service. Always searching for ways to make the customer's experience better, Truitt & White computerized our systems early on.
We also took on new, innovative products and tried new ways of doing things. Even before anyone recognized the value of double pane insulated windows, we were already stocking them. Over the years, this steady quality of being one step ahead of the competition allowed our customers to rely on us to provide the latest and highest quality products around.

Today, Truitt & White is a leader in the San Francisco Bay Area building materials industry. Our strong desire to continually improve, while retaining those tried and true elements that make us Truitt & White, is still alive today and a source of pride for all of us.
